Vinho Verde de Ponte da Barca

This wine comes from Ponte da Barca, a small town in the Lima valley in the far north of Portugal. Here, the vineyards climb the hillsides on either side of the river. This is Loureiro country. The wine is pale gold with a green glint. It is aromatic with white flowers, citrus and green apple, with the light natural spritz that Vinho Verde is known for. It is low in alcohol and fresh. It is made to be drunk young and very cold, which is how we keep it. It goes well with grilled sardines, mussels or bolinhos de bacalhau.
