Francesinha
Porto's most famous sandwich, made the proper way. Sliced ham, smoked linguiça and cured spiced sausage go between two thick slices of white bread. The whole thing is covered in mild melting cheese and baked until the cheese forms a crust you have to cut through. The sauce is made from tomato, beer, fresh chilli and bay leaf simmered down slowly. It is poured over the top while everything is hot so it soaks into the bread. Fries are served on the side. A cold Cerveja à Pressão, Portuguese Tap Beer, is the right thing to drink with it. Come hungry.
