Vinho Verde de Ponte da Barca

This wine comes from Ponte da Barca, a small town in the Lima valley in the far north of Portugal. Here, the vineyards climb the hillsides on either side of the river. It is Loureiro country and it shows. The wine is pale gold with a green glint. It is aromatic with white flowers, citrus, and green apple. It has the light natural spritz that Vinho Verde is known for. It is low in alcohol, fresh, and made to be drunk young and very cold. We keep it exactly that way. It goes well with our grilled sardines, mussels, or bolinhos de bacalhau.
