Francesinha
Porto's most famous sandwich, made the proper way. Sliced ham, smoked linguiça and cured spiced sausage go between two thick slices of white bread, then the whole thing is covered in mild melting cheese and baked until the cheese forms a crust you have to cut through. The sauce is tomato, beer, fresh chilli and bay leaf simmered down slowly and poured over the top while everything is hot, so it soaks into the bread. Fries on the side and a cold Cerveja à Pressão — Portuguese Tap Beer to drink. Come hungry.
