After arriving in Ushma from Ivdel with Fast Gas, we load our equipment onto the snowmobiles and begin the journey.

The trip takes between 8 and 12 hours depending on road conditions. Sledges and snowmobiles may get stuck in the snow, and everyone will help to move them. The route follows a mix of river and lake ice as well as forest roads.

Along the way, we stop at various houses to eat and drink. Some are warm and others are cold. We stop at Baza Iliycha, a cold izba, for tea and food. The trip includes a visit to a small cave by the river and stops at local houses and bases where we can meet dogs.

Temperatures range from 0 to -40 degrees. We recommend wearing good layers of clothing and using ski glasses for the wind and snow. This transfer can be very demanding and exhaustive. Your drivers are local Mansi people.
